Tino Mendez Rios Sr., a beloved husband, father, and son, passed away peacefully at his home in Cordell November 28, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on September 6, 1959, in Taylor, Texas, Tino was a dedicated individual whose unwavering work ethic and commitment to his family defined his life.
From a young age, Tino was known for his hard-working mentality, having had to leave school early to provide for his family. Throughout his career, he held various positions ranging from Supervisor to Laborer, always striving to ensure that his family had what they needed. His dedication to work was not just for himself but stemmed from a profound desire to support those he loved.
Tino was educated in the Clinton school system, attending elementary school there. His personality was marked by a selflessness that led him to prioritize the needs of others over his own. He found joy in giving, often doing as little for himself as possible to help those around him.
In addition to his industrious nature, Tino enjoyed several hobbies that brought him satisfaction. He loved puzzles, finding them both challenging and entertaining. His passion for maintaining a beautiful yard was evident; he took pride in creating a welcoming outdoor space. Although he did not travel often, Tino cherished the journeys he was able to take, relishing the experiences that came with exploring new places.
Tino leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Felix “Chofe” Rios of Clinton; his wife, Michelle Rios, of the home; and his children: son Tino Rios Jr. and his fiancée Michelle Sanders of Cordell, and daughter Sophia Rios of Cordell Three brothers Joe Rios and his wife Candy of Tennessee, Victor Rios of Clinton, Alfonzo Proa of Clinton, two sisters Kristi Rios of Mississippi, Elizabeth Rivera of Clinton. He is preceded in death by his father, Faustino Rios, and his sister and brother-in-law, Cenovio and Angie Flores.
Tino’s legacy of hard work, compassion, and devotion to family will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. His presence will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on December 2, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Lee Hometown Funeral Home located at 1217 W Gary Blvd, Clinton, OK. A funeral service honoring Tino's life will take place the following day, December 3, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Hyman Memorial Chapel, same location. A Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
