Pamela S. Roush
September 30, 1947 – April 15, 2025
Pamela S. Roush, 77, of Arapaho, Oklahoma, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
Pam was born on September 30, 1947, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Lawrence and Jacqueline (Harmon) Steiner. She was raised in Weatherford and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1965. Pam continued her education at Oklahoma State University, earning a degree in Education in 1969. During her time at OSU, she was an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She went on to obtain her Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Oklahoma in 1970.
On May 23, 1970, Pam married the love of her life, Clint Roush, at the First Baptist Church in Weatherford. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Pam was a devoted follower of Christ and a member of EDGE Church. She was deeply engaged in her community. Her heart for volunteerism shined through her work with P.E.O., the Worthwhile Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, and most notably as a CASA volunteer, where she advocated for and mentored foster children—maintaining lifelong relationships with those she served. Pam was named the Volunteer of the Year by Multi-County Youth Services and was admired for her strength, compassion, and fierce independence. She was a caregiver to many and a pillar of encouragement to all who knew her.
Pam’s love of teaching was evident in every aspect of her life. She began her teaching career in Port Huron, Michigan, then taught in Pawnee, Stillwater, and finally in Arapaho, where she served from 1979 until 2001. She concluded her career with one final year in Mustang before retiring in 2002. Known for making every student feel special and loved, Pam was a firm but fair presence in the classroom. She had a unique gift for seeing each child's potential, giving them the confidence to dream bigger and reach higher. Her impact was profound, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless students who carry her influence with them to this day.
Outside the classroom, Pam enjoyed gardening, cooking, and playing Rook. She was an avid supporter of OSU and especially cherished attending her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She had a passion for travel and explored places such as China, Alaska, Israel, Switzerland, Austria, and the Grand Canyon (on the back of a mule). Her organizational skills were legendary, and her family lovingly describes her as “the most organized person in the world.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Jacqueline Steiner.
She is survived by her devoted husband Clint of the home; her daughter Cortney Oakes and husband Jaime of Guymon; daughter Sara Brown and husband Joshua of Edmond; and son Rusty Roush and wife Chandra of Arapaho. Pam is also survived by her sister Peggy Newton and husband Randy of Roswell, Georgia; her beloved grandchildren: Samuel Oakes, Tempe Oakes, Paul Lawrence Oakes, Harrison Oakes, Lauren Oakes, Benjamin Oakes, Emily Oakes, and Madison Oakes; Katie Brown, Noah Brown, and Hannah Brown; Lillian Roush, Sophia Roush, Evelyn Joy Roush and Nolan Roush; and a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 21, 2025, at EDGE Church with Pastor Hal Penner hosting, Doug Lewis officiating, with Daniel Mosburg, and Roger Comstock assisting. Burial will follow at the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
