Mark Alan Ray

May 10, 1968 — August 27, 2024

Clinton, Oklahoma

A memorial service to honor the life of Mark Alan Ray, 56, a cherished resident of Clinton, will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Cornerstone Church. The service will be officiated by Billy Harmon and is entrusted to the care of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.

Mark Alan Ray was born on May 10, 1968, in Sublett, Kansas, to Melvin “Bo” and Juanita “Joan” (Tipton) Ray. He passed away tragically on August 27, 2024, in Perryton, Texas.

Raised in Foss, Oklahoma, Mark graduated from Canute High School in the class of 1986. On June 3, 1988, he married Sheila Challis in Foss, celebrating 35 years of marriage just this past June. Together, they traveled extensively across the United States, working on fiber lines, and later, he drove a cattle truck for Craig and Charlene Meacham. After a decade with Danlin Industries under the guidance of Danny and Linda Floyd, Mark returned to trucking for Craig and Charlene Meacham, where he continued his career with dedication.

Mark's passions were as varied as they were deep. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, actively supported his daughter Nikki as a rodeo dad, led praise and worship at his church, and was a devoted fan of OU softball. His pride in his truck was matched only by his unwavering commitment to his family, especially his role as a devoted father.

Mark is preceded in death by his mother, Joan Ray, and his father-in-law, Bill Challis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila Ray; his father, Bo Ray of Elk City; his daughter, Nikki Ray-Barber and her husband Chance of Meers, Oklahoma; and his brothers, Tony Ray and his wife Raylene of Foss, Oklahoma, and Eric Ray and his wife Kay of Elgin, Oklahoma, and his mother-in-law Barbara Challis of Clinton. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Justin Ray and wife Kayce, Katy Ray and wife Misty, along with their children, Cody, Cory, Collin, and Rileigh Ray, sister’s in law Tonja Challis-Branson, and Billie Jo Challis, both of Clinton.

Mark's legacy of love, commitment, and faith will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
