Glenda Newton August 29, 1951 – December 24, 2024
Glenda Newton, a devoted wife, beloved friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on Christmas Eve at 4:30 p.m. She was 73 years old.
Born on August 29, 1951, in Non, Oklahoma, to Harve and Clara Coats, Glenda was raised with strong family values and a vibrant spirit. The family later moved to Lookeba, Oklahoma, where Glenda graduated from high school. She furthered her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, where she aquired the foundation for a life filled with accomplishments and purpose.
On August 1, 1975, Glenda married the love of her life, Royce Newton. Their partnership was a testament to unwavering love and dedication. Together, they built and operated Newton’s Office Equipment in Clinton, a business they proudly co-owned until their retirement in 2019.
Glenda and Royce’s life was filled with joy and adventure. They traveled extensively across the United States on their motorcycles, creating countless memories with friends and each other. She was an avid bowler, participating in local leagues and fostering friendships through her competitive spirit. A proud member of the JC Janes, Broadway Heights Baptist Church, and various civic groups, Glenda’s generosity and enthusiasm enriched the lives of those around her.
Although her life was marked by profound loss—twin sons Randy and Brian, who passed at birth in 1978, and her son Matt, who preceded her in death in 1994—Glenda found solace in her faith, family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Wayne, Carl, James, Wendell, and Reba Coats.
Glenda's warmth, kindness, and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She cherished visiting with loved ones, sharing stories, laughter, and her unyielding positivity. She truly embodied a life well-lived.
Glenda is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Royce Newton, who remained by her side through life’s joys and challenges.
A private family graveside service was held at the Clinton Cemetery on Thursday, December 26, 2024, under the care and direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
