In Loving Memory of Floyd “Louie” Lewis Neely

Floyd “Louie” Lewis Neely, 78, of Arapaho, Oklahoma was born April 27, 1946, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Floyd Andrew Neely and Jessie Mae (McLaughlin) Neely, and peacefully passed away Friday, November 8, 2024 in Weatherford, Oklahoma with loving family by his side.
A Celebration of Life for Louie is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 in the Hyman Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Hoyt “Clutch” Phillips officiating, and under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home. A burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery.
In his early childhood, Louie was raised in Pascagoula, Mississippi and Jackson, Tennessee before moving to Clinton in 1956 where he graduated high school in 1964.
Louie married the love of his life, Vickie Velenda Corr from Cherokee, Oklahoma, at the Custer Avenue Baptist Church in Clinton on May 25, 1968. They established their residence in Arapaho and were blessed with the births of their children, Michelle and Gabriel.
Louie was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Clinton as a young teen. He raised his children in the First Baptist Church of Arapaho where he and Vickie served as chaperones for lock-ins as well as trips to Falls Creek church camp and Starlight Crusades. Later in life, Louie and his family attended the First Church of God in Clinton where he drove the Sunday School bus and served as a greeter and an usher.
Louie was involved with the following organizations: Midwest CB Club President, Clinton Evening Lions Club President 2004-2005, OK Kids Baseball coach for the Arapaho Pee Wees and Midgets and a volunteer Ombudsman for the Veterans Center. He also portrayed Santa in the Clinton Christmas parade and visited the residents of the Methodist nursing home.
Louie worked at many places throughout his teen and adult years including Nichols service station, Goodyear and Clinton Cable. He became a truck driver for Magabar Mud Company and Milchem Drilling Fluids, worked in the oilfield for Rine Drilling and worked on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad before retiring from the City of Clinton in 2015 after 25 years of service.
Louie’s hobbies were watching the Clinton Red Tornadoes, OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboy football games and spending time with his family camping, fishing, and traveling. He enjoyed going to car shows, casinos and the movies as well as watching classic tv shows or NCIS, FBI and Ghosts. He especially enjoyed reconnecting with his high school classmates at lunches or reunions..
Louie never met a stranger, or would you ever see Louie without a smile, always talking to anyone who would listen to him.
Louie was a devoted husband,father and Papa who taught his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren by example how to work hard and never give up. He always supported his children in their activities at Arapaho Public Schools and later continued that support of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren during their activities in soccer, football, karate, Cub Scouts, music, plays and cheerleading.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents, two half-sisters, and his wife Vickie in February 2016 as well as his beloved pets Timothy and Sassy and his “granddogs” Snookums and Rocko.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Renea (Neely) Clifton and husband Danny of Weatherford, Oklahoma and his son, Gabriel Lewis Neely and wife Kendra of Elk City, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Tyler Bryce Clifton and Andrea of Moore, Oklahoma, Gabriel Lewis Neely, II of Enid, Oklahoma, Harley Eakins of Ardmore, Ok, Maggie Kolesik, Trey Neely and Kiley Weschke of Amarillo, Texas, along with 6 great-grandchildren Emily Marie Neely, Victoria (Tori) Jo’Lynn Neely, Chevi Rose Neely, Damon Eakins, Carter Kolesik and Eli Kolesik.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society, a local animal shelter, food pantry or the Christmas Angel trees for children and/or senior citizens.
