Fern, affectionately known as "Mamo" to her family, peacefully departed this life at the age of 98 at the Homestead of Clinton assisted living center. Her departure on August 28, 2024, marks the end of a life rich with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Born on December 2, 1925, to Floyd and Stella (Carmichael) Barrick in Clinton, OK, Fern was a proud native of the town where she spent her formative years. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1943 and began her working career at the Rialto Movie Theatre. Her career continued at Medberry Furniture Store as a bookkeeper before transitioning to O.B. Williams Furniture Store, where she served until her retirement.
On May 7, 1949, Fern married Doyle Conley, and together they built a loving home in Clinton. Fern was known for her meticulous nature and passion for yard work. Her home was a testament to her love for order, with meticulously organized drawers and a spotless environment. She cherished her conversations with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed her nightly ritual of word search puzzles, which she fondly referred to as her “nightly homework.”
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Doyle in 2011, an infant son, Donnie Eugene Conley, and siblings Roy Barrick and Opal Hayes.
She leaves behind two children: Ken Conley and his wife Debbie of Tuttle, OK, and Carol Bailey and her husband Monty of Wichita, KS. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Brandy Conley, Michael Bailey and friend Jennifer, Miranda Roeser and her husband Dary, Brad Conley and his wife Chealsi, and Mark Conley, as well as her seven great-grandchildren: Kinzie Conley, Chloe and Caden Roeser, Aubrey and Bradley Conley, and Emery Conley, Arizona and Trinity Bailey.
Fern's presence will be dearly missed, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
