Cedric “Son” Dean Prairie Chief Jr., lovingly known to many as "Son," passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 47. Son was born on January 21, 1977, in Culbertson, Montana, to Cedric and Phyllis Faye (Buck Elk) Prairie Chief Sr., and was a proud member of the Native American Church.
Son spent his early years in Montana, where he was raised until his senior year of high school. He then moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma, where he graduated with the Class of 1996. He went on to attend Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he built lasting friendships and cherished memories.
Known for his kind heart and warm spirit, Son enjoyed the great outdoors, often spending time hunting, fishing, and sharing laughter with family and friends. His infectious smile and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met; no one ever had a bad word to say about him.
Son is survived by his parents, Cedric and Phyllis Prairie Chief of Clinton; daughter, Gianna Clevenger; two brothers, David Prairie Chief and his wife Christy of Clinton, and Favian Prairie Chief, also of Clinton. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him.
A traditional all-night wake will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Clinton Emergency Resource Center (ERC) Building, beginning at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services, officiated by Gerald Panana, will take place the following day, Monday, November 25, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Clinton ERC Building. Son will be laid to rest in the Clinton Cemetery under the care and direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
Son’s legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
