Carol Josephine (Fonville) Walters January 24, 1940 – November 14, 2024

Carol Josephine (Fonville) Walters, age 84, of Dill City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born on January 24, 1940, in Waldron, Arkansas, to Robert Brantley and Violet Marie (Richmond) Fonville.

Carol spent her early years in Waldron, where she attended school before moving with her family to Dill City, Oklahoma, during her senior year. She graduated from Burns Flat High School in 1958. Shortly after, she met and married the love of her life, T.G. “JR” Walters.

A dedicated and hardworking individual, Carol worked as a Rural Route Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for more than 32 years. Alongside her postal career, she served as the president of her family’s water well drilling business.

Carol was a faithful member of the Dill City Church of Christ, where she cultivated lasting friendships and shared her love for her community. Known for her vibrant personality, Carol enjoyed reading, playing cards, and listening to music. Her home was always filled with warmth, whether she was hosting family gatherings, cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events, or preparing delicious meals and baked goods. She also had a passion for shopping and delighted in picking out clothes for her beloved grandchildren.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Violet Marie Fonville; her husband, JR Walters; her son, Corey Gee Walters; and a grandson, Colin Walters.

She is survived by her loving family, including; her daughters, Connie Lynn Ainsworth and husband Alan of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cathy Ann Walters of Dill City; Son Cobey Walters of Yukon, her sisters, Linda Ann Wyllie and husband Buddy of Spanish Fort, Alabama, and Judy Marie Ferguson and husband Robert of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Carol leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Jeremy Ainsworth, Jade Goar, Austin Ainsworth, Brooke Wenninger, Cheyenne Six, Jerald Six, Courtney Walters, Regan Walters, Reece Walters, and Reanna Walters; as well as eight great-grandchildren: Renee, Harper, and Josiah Ainsworth, Rylan Goar, Bransyn Wenninger, Lyric Six, Journey Six, and Luke Hadley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Burns Flat Church of Christ, officiated by Brad Whinery. Interment will follow at South Burns Cemetery under the direction of Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
