A private burial and service for Billy D. Smith, age 90 years, 10 months, and 2 days, of Arapaho, will be held at the Arapaho Cemetery 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Arrangements are being handled by the Lee Hometown Funeral Home in Clinton.
Billy Dean was born on October 9, 1933, in Shenandoah, Iowa, to Zora A. and Velma (Good) Smith. He passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the River Valley Nursing Home.
Billy spent his early childhood in Iowa before moving to Weatherford, Oklahoma, at the age of 2 and a half. He grew up in Weatherford and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1952.
Professionally, Billy worked as a production manager for Dr. Pepper Bottling Company and also had a career with Coca-Cola. His commitment to his work and his community were evident throughout his life. Billy was a devoted member of the Baptist Church and had a deep passion for football, particularly supporting the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas Cowboys.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Zora A. and Velma Smith; his brothers Floyd Smith and Layton Smith, Rick Smith, Harold Smith and his sister Norma Jean Kauk, both of his sons Alan Smith, and Dean Smith.
He is survived by his sister, Jo Anne Quintel of Lawton, OK, his granddaughter, Desiree, and numerous nieces and nephews, and a close friend Justin Hilman.
Billy will be remembered fondly for his dedication to his family, his love for football, and his contributions to his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
