Funeral Service for Betty Miller, longtime resident of Clinton will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Clinton Church of Christ, officiated by Pat Peters and Ryan Driscoll. Burial will follow in the Stafford Cemetery, all under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home.
Betty June Miller was born June 20, 1931, to Bill and Julia (Lemasters) Kenney at her grandparents’ home in Washita County, Oklahoma and passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, in her home in Clinton, Oklahoma. Betty was raised in the Edwardsville community where Foss Lake is now located.
Betty attended school in Stafford, Oklahoma and graduated in 1949. She married Lyle E. (Gene) Miller on November 10, 1949, in Sayre, Oklahoma. She and her husband were members of the church of Christ where he served as a deacon and an elder with her by his side. Even after his death in 2007 she continued to serve the church in many ways. She is especially remembered for her role as the teacher of the three year old Bible class for more than 60 years.
She and her husband owned and operated a major farming operation in Custer County. She was very active in support of her children’s activities and served as a 4-H leader at Butler Schools for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Lloyd, her sister Carmileta Hughes and brother-in-law Jim Hughes.
She is survived by her four children: Rena Bredy and her husband Mike; Linda Thomas and her husband Joe; Lyle Miller and his wife Carla; and Beth Miller. Also surviving are her grandchildren J Thomas and wife Laci, Thane Bredy and wife Bridget, Barrett Thomas and wife Julie, Rhett Bredy and wife Roxanne, Shea Roper and husband Aaron, Tyler Daniel and wife Tenay, and Martha Hunter and husband Timothy; and by great-grandchildren Jace Roper, Kinsleigh Thomas, Ethan Bredy, Elizabeth Bredy, Braden Thomas, Jacob Thomas, and Reagan Bredy.
Gifts in memory of Betty may be made to the Stafford Cemetery Association, 344 South 13th Street, Clinton Ok 73601.
